The Golden Compass

the golden compass - posterThe Golden Compass will arrive in cinemas this year with high expectations placed on it. It is the first in a series of adaptations of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy which has enjoyed much-deserved success, the final instalment even winning the Whitbread Award in 2001, the first children’s novel to do so. The books are beautifully written, intelligent pieces of work that have pushed the category of “young adult” novels into fresh intellectual territory.

Sexuality in the churches! New resources uploaded to the site!

seeing others

People who don't go to church often wonder why it is we always seem to be talking about sex!  Most denominations in Scotland and around the world are trying to grapple with this most sensitive of issues, with varying degrees of success.

We've uploaded some new resources produced from within the Church of Scotland.  The report that was considered by their General Assembly this year along with a learning resource to accompany it appear in the downloads section in the religious, moral and ethical issues folder.  Alongside those you'll find some ideas from Nigel Pounde, the HIV Project Officer for the Church of Scotland.

We hope you find these new resources useful and that together we can do better in the way that we think, speak and act in the realm of sexuality.
